Rustic Tart With Peaches and Blackberries

Hello everyone! Isn’t September fabulous? I’m taking advantage of the wonderful weather to take long solitary walks, with only music as a companion. After dinner however, since the air is still pleasant, my husband and I take our usual walk with our dog 😉  Recently we are trying new paths inside our town, and we are enjoying beautiful views that at night are really amazing. We are simple people friends, and we love our hometown. However, I truly recommend taking a walk after dinner to everyone, even a short one. I find that among the other benefits, it also helps me sleep better, and for me that is really important, because I have never been a great sleeper!

During the past weekend, I prepared a Rustic Tart with Peaches and Blackberries that, besides being appreciated by family and friends, was also the subject of a cute video prepared with my son. Actually, my son made the video…I only made the tart! I wanted to enclose some late summer goodies in a shell of butter free shortcrust pastry, so I used sweet peaches and the delicious giant blackberries from my father’s garden. My Rustic Tart with Peaches and Blackberries is very easy to prepare and you can use any fresh fruit you like … In this period of the year, you really have so much to choose from! Let’s prepare this treat together!

Rustic tart with peaches and blackberries

An easy, butter free rustic tart, filled with lots of delicious fruit


  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 100 g sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • the grated zest of 1 organic lemon
  • 80 ml sunflower oil
  • 300 g flour 00
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • a couple of crumbled cookies
  • 2 nectarine peaches
  • a handful of blackberries
  • one tablespoon sugar
  • icing sugar



Prepare the shortcrust pastry. Mix the whole egg, the egg yolk, the grated lemon zest, the sugar and the salt.


Mix in the oil.


Add the flour and baking powder and mix, then pour the dough on your working surface and knead quickly. You must obtain a well-blended and compact dough, that is not sticky Cover and set aside.


Prepare the filling. Cut the nectarine peaches into slices, leaving on the skin.


Take the shortcrust pastry and roll it out on a sheet of parchment paper to a thickness of about ½ cm. The edges do not need to be perfect.


Spread the cookie crumbs over the shortcrust, leaving a small border.


Distribute the peaches over the biscuits and sprinkle with a tablespoon of sugar, without reaching the border.


Helping yourself with the parchment paper, turn the shortcrust that you left all around inwards, creating a rustic edge. No need to be precise, the beauty of this tart is its rustic appearance. Transfer to a baking sheet.


Decorate the surface with the blackberries and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 - 30 minutes or until golden.


Before serving, sprinkle with a little icing sugar.
